I decided to weave when a friend of Mr K's had a baby. The blanket is in acrylic so it is machine washable and it is really soft. It isn't a large blanket and i can't find the measurements at the moment but it should be big enough to go in a pram or over a car seat.
The socks were done with 32 stitches and then knitted as I knit normal socks. The feet measured 4" so they should fit up to about a 10LB baby.
